How are evaluations run?

  • NLS JO pays outside evaluators to score players at tryouts to limit any possibility of biases.

  • Evaluators will not be coaches, parents, or anyone affiliated with NLS school or community sports.

  • Scoring is based on the same rubric for all players. Evaluators will total the scores for each player and deliver the results to the board.

  • No parents/coaches/board members/spectators are allowed in the gym or gym viewing areas during evaluations. The ONLY exception is the facilitator(s) running the drills for evaluations, which may or may not be a board member or coach. The facilitator cannot be the parent or potential coach of a player currently in the gym. The facilitator will run drills, throw balls, etc, however, are not allowed to talk to evaluators about any players at any time.

  • We acknowledge that life circumstances outside of our control occur. If a player is experiencing an extreme circumstance and cannot attend evaluations, their parent(s) must contact the board of directors and their daughter will be included on the lowest team at their age level.
